Sanquin Consulting Services (SCS) is an internationally facilitating unit of the Sanquin Blood Supply Foundation in the Netherlands. SCS provides guidance advice services to restricted economy countries. SCS was established in 2001, and is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Sanquin Consulting Services is a self-supporting unit, financed through international projects. The main focus of SCS is on
- blood supply structures: development of safe, effective and sustainable blood supply and transfusion structures at national and regional level
- quality management: development and implementation of ‘vein to vein’ Quality and Quality Management Systems in transfusion medicine
The guidance and advice activities are provided according to WHO principles as developed by the Department of Blood Safety (BSD) of the Cluster of Essential Health Technologies (EHT) in Geneva. This includes extensive and tailor made teaching and training activities, both in the home country, i.e. the Netherlands, as well as abroad.
